Dr. Maria LoTempio
Maria M. LoTempio, MD, FACS is a double boarded surgeon in plastic and reconstructive surgery and head and neck surgery-otolaryngology. She was born in Buffalo, New York and started her medical career by first entering the field of nursing working as a neonatal intensive care nurse.
Dr. LoTempio realized her goal to become a surgeon early on and graduated from the State University of New York at Buffalo School of Medicine. She was accepted to the prestigious UCLA head and neck residency program working exclusively in cosmetic and reconstructive procedures of the head and neck. Dr. LoTempio began to develop an affinity for the artistry and precision of plastic surgery along with the potential to help restore and improve a patient’s self-esteem.
At the Medical University of South Carolina, Dr. LoTempio furthered her education and training by completing a plastic surgery residency. There, she had the opportunity to work with Dr. Robert J. Allen, the pioneer of perforator flaps in breast reconstruction and specialized further in microsurgery.
Soon after completing her residencies and fellowships, Dr. LoTempio joined a cosmetic practice in Dubai, United Arab Emirates as well as opened the LoTempio Plastic Surgery for Women in New York City. Because of her extensive training in reconstructive surgery of the face and body, Dr. LoTempio has an impeccable understanding of precision body contouring. While Dr. LoTempio was originally known for her reconstructive surgery expertise, she excels in cosmetic procedures including fat grafting: perfecting her craft for over 20 years.
